Christmas Time

Christmas Time

Roger WIlliams – Christmas Time A great album from 1959 with piano and orchestra. The arrangements are more than just elevator music, and Roger’s piano playing is excellent as always. Check out comments 🙂

John McCarthy Chorale SingAlong

John McCarthy Chorale SingAlong

From the Sing-Along category, the John McCarthy Chorale gives us a selection of Christmas favorites. No Mitch Miller-type singing here, this is tasteful chorus with nice accompaniments, a little different from other chorus records. This was released by the RCA Music Club, and may have been released commercially too, not sure. Another incarnation is called ‘The Greatest Songs of Christmas’ with the wreath cover, but is the same music. [check comments for links]

Christmas on the Radio

Christmas on the Radio

Bing, Frank and Nat in radio broadcast recordings from the 40’s. While the songs are not the versions you may know, they are nonetheless great, a well worth a listen. The sound quality is fine for the age, most I am sure are sourced from 78 rpm transcription discs. BTW there is an almost identical release, but the 2 Nat tracks are replaced by Louis Armstrong tracks. The 2 releases seem to get mixed up occasionally, so be aware if…
